When you create something that comes from deep inside of you, that’s a precious thing. From the time we labored over that coloring book masterpiece as a child and received delighted praise from a parent, our spirits find nourishment when we believe that our creativity has somehow hit the mark.
Indeed, affirmation is a tonic to the creative soul.
That’s why we are so high on the Pinnacle Design Awards, awarded annually by the American Society of Furniture Designers to recognize achievement in furniture design and promote design excellence and originality.

You wouldn’t expect the words “casual” and “opulent” to hang out together.
After all, casual means “easy style” and “suited for everyday use,” while opulent is anything but ordinary. Opulent means luxurious, effusive, extravagant, gilded and glittery.
But, as the saying goes, “Opposites attract.” And in fact, when “casual” and “opulent” get together in the design world, they make beautiful home décor together.
Want a poignant, compelling room that invites you in? Mix rustic and weathered pine with a crystal chandelier and airy white bedding.

Are you looking for design beauty that is original, fresh, and unexpected? Mix a natural fabric like cotton, burlap or linen with a mirrored metallic border as on this tufted queen bed in Hooker Furniture’s Sanctuary Collection.

Estate Collection Re-Vitalizes Vintage
What’s not to like about antique furniture?
Antiques are at home in virtually every type of living space and decorating scheme. They’re at home in a ranch house, an urban apartment, a European-styled town home, a beach house, a big city loft or a cottage—you name it. Antiques blend as well with contemporary furniture as with traditional.
For years, antiques have been a primary inspiration for countless furniture collections. Antiques bring with them a certain excellence, character, timelessness and enduring appeal that adds a cache to 21st Century furniture interpretations.
The challenge becomes, “How do you do something different with antiques?” How do you make antiques fresh and new and right for today? That was the mission of the new 60-piece Estate collection set for introduction at the October High Point Market by Hooker Furniture.

When you think of nailhead trim, you picture a nice detail on a sofa or chair, right? Well get ready to be wowed. Nailhead trim just jumped from upholstery to wood furniture, and it’s making a big statement in style.
At the High Point Furniture Premarket last month, I got a sneak peek at the freshest furniture introductions about to hit home fashion, and was excited to see a stunning new detail: nailhead trim used on chests, buffets and consoles.
Red Croc & Nailhead Console
The unexpected application of nailhead trim on chests, tables, consoles and the like is a creative, inventive addition that really dresses up wood pieces. This detail can set a style tone ranging from Old World sophisticated to modern glam to chic and hip.

Into every girl’s life, a little glamour must fall. Preferably on a regular basis. Adding a bit of sparkle to your furniture and home décor is a perfect way to personalize your space.
My ideal hideaway is full of inspiration from the age of Hollywood Glamour. Garbo, Hepburn, Taylor — they all knew exactly how to make glamour look effortless … as if it just poured from their souls. I find them incredibly inspiring. And their homes must have been filled with pieces that oozed “chic.”
In my opinion, no place in your home is more befitting a touch of Glam than bedroom furniture in the place you begin and end each day. Can’t you just imagine Marilyn Monroe waking each morning in Hooker Furniture’s fabulous Sanctuary Bling Bed?

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit premarket at the High Point Market in High Point, N.C. It’s the early showing of the newest looks and styles from today’s top furniture makers, held about one month before the huge international Fall High Point Market that opens on October 13 this year. I was excited to see a rainbow of colors and was dazzled by all the new shades of blue. They ranged from indigo to cobalt, powder blue to ink blue—with a good mix of aqua and teal as well.
Sam Moore’s new Bonham chair
While I love the updated shape of this contemporized wing chair from Sam Moore and its modern legs and nail head trim—it is the vibrant blue color that wows me. I’m glad to see the color blue raise its profile in home fashion and [...]

Welcome to our new home away from home.
That’s what we got to say as we greeted retailers and designers during the recently completed Spring High Point Market.
After over 30 years in the same furniture market showroom in the International Home Furnishings Center, Hooker Furniture moved to a high traffic location on the same floor to unite with our subsidiaries Sam Moore and Bradington-Young in a completely redesigned and renovated 80,000 square foot showroom.
The lobby of our new showroom
If there is one word we would chose to describe our new showroom, it would be “welcoming.” Everything about the design and layout has a common theme of hospitality. That’s one reason the lobby, shown above, and all public areas of the showroom have a soft neutral color scheme and seating arrangements to invite conversation and relaxation.
If there was [...]

Wood furniture finishes aren’t what they used to be, and that’s actually a good thing.
For years, there’s been brown, light brown, dark brown, medium brown…you get the idea. Maybe with a few painted color finishes or black finishes thrown in here and there.
Yet introductions at the international April High Point Furniture Market opening later this week signal that wood is emerging from its under-the-radar status to play a more prominent role in the overall design of furniture and the home.
In several key introductions at Hooker Furniture, wood treatments include multiple wood types in one piece or collection, color tone variations and sophisticated rustic reclaimed wood looks.

The sophisticated rustic woods are often mixed with elegant or classical silhouettes and design elements or opulent accessories to create a feeling of casual luxury.
