Winners of Kendra Dining & TV Console Announced
What is one of the greatest perks of the empty nest stage of life? For Robin and Roger Klouser, it is updating their furniture and home décor.
The Edison, N.J. couple are the winners of Hooker Furniture’s Kendra dining & TV console that was part of a sweepstakes in our recent National “Get Ready for the Holidays” Dining Furniture Sale. Said Robin, “Wow, this is so amazing! My husband and I have been working on updating our furniture over the last several months, and this console fits in perfectly.”
The Klousers have been married 27 years and have two adult children who’ve recently become established outside the home. “I must say that we are enjoying the empty nest syndrome,” Robin said. “We no longer have to worry about furniture getting ruined, and we are ready to take the next step in investing in what we would like in our house.” For many years, Robin said their house was “country style, all pine. Last year I bought a cherry chest for our bedroom and that was when we decided no more pine. I like it, but it’s just time for a change, which goes along with our new life.”
“What I love about the (Kendra) console is its dual purpose use,” Robin said. “You can use it for storage and for the TV, and it would really fit in any room in the house. Our house is on the small side so we’re looking for pieces that are beautiful to look at and have storage use. This will be our first piece of Hooker Furniture, but we are looking to buy some pieces with your beautiful cherry finishes for our living room. We recently bought a new set of green sofas, and I think green looks great with a cherry finish. We painted the walls a sand color. I associate Hooker Furniture with quality and great craftsmanship, and quality furniture is what we are looking for.”
The role of home décor and furniture in Robin’s empty nest journey got us to thinking. If you are an empty nester, what advice would you give those who may be about to enter that stage about uplifting changes and tweaks to make to your house?
