The buzz in the Hooker Furniture showroom at High Point Market became even more exciting this week when the co-creators of the Mélange Collection, our merchandising directors Erica Wingo and Cindy Hall, were interviewed by leading international furniture business publication Furniture Today about the expansion of Mélange from accent furniture to bedroom and dining room furniture at the Spring 2013 Market.
Hall and Wingo told Editor-in-chief Ray Allegrezza how their inspiration for Melange has been “anything but furniture.” Instead, the pair looked to fashion, apparel, handbags, jewelry, art and textiles to inspire the eclectic collection of one-of-a-kind artistic pieces. At the High Point Furniture Market currently underway, Wingo has taken the same approach of designing one-of-a-kind statement pieces for the bedroom and dining room. “We’ve noticed that people are no longer taking a suited up approach to their bedrooms, but are buying items instead and creating their own eclectic rooms,” she said.
