Right in the midst of cold weather and wintry gray skies comes the welcome warmth and excitement of Super Bowl weekend. Even better, it is the best excuse for a party that occurs all winter. Whether you host your family or invite the whole gang, the big game provides the perfect excuse to get creative with your home décor and entertaining.
I love to entertain almost as much as I love to decorate, so Super Bowl weekend is a win-win for me. What I don’t know about football I make up for in creativity and enthusiasm. So here are my three no-fail tips for making a Super Bowl event, well, super.
1-Make Your Party Stylish
Sure, all a Super Bowl party really requires is a television, snacks and beverages. Yet add a little style, and suddenly the event is memorable. Start with your invitation—a special invite promises a special event. It gives guests a preview of what’s to come.
Style doesn’t stop there. Once you’ve got the guest list building, it’s time to get decorating. The Super Bowl provides the perfect theme for creative tablescapes. Skip the fresh flowers and candles and head right for the locker room for inspiration.
2-Make Your Party Scrumptious
Food is undeniably the heart of any party. As host, you’re not just feeding your guests—you’re entertaining their palettes. So be sure to offer a variety of food—sweet and savory, healthy and indulgent choices.
When it comes to easy-to-serve options, dips are always a big hit. And they appeal to a variety of guests because you can serve them with chips, crackers or veggies.
Pizza Dip, always a hit, is also easy to make. Simply layer cream cheese, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and your favorite toppings and then bake until melted. Serve warm with toasted baguettes, crackers or chips.
This Monster Cookie Dough Dip can be served with pretzels, graham crackers, apples or animal crackers.
3-Make Your Party Satisfying
At the end of your event, you want all your guests to be glad they came (even if their team didn’t win). Consider every detail from their perspective. Ask yourself if your home feels welcoming. Is it a comfortable temperature? Have you introduced everyone and pointed out where they can put coats and purses? Do you have enough seating for everyone? If not, it’s a great time to add a new recliner or accent chair.
Of course, the ultimate seating for a big game is a cozy, stylish sectional to accommodate many guests, paired with an oversized ottoman for putting their feet up in style or a cocktail table for holding those snacks within easy reach.
Lastly, as the party is winding down for the night, I like to send guests home with something to enjoy that will help them remember the event. There are no shortage of party favor ideas, but my personal favorites are: cupcakes, bags of M&Ms® candy in the team colors, and Hershey® bars covered with a custom sticker over the wrapper.
A sweet treat like these football-themed cupcakes are a guaranteed win. An easy way to send each one home is to put them in a plastic cup before wrapping them in plastic.
While you can spend weeks perusing game day recipes and decorating ideas on Pinterest®, I’ve gathered some of the most creative and stylish ideas here. Enjoy!
