There’s something about a June wedding that ignites the spark of inspiration for all things romantic. Whether you’ve received an invitation for upcoming nuptials or you’re preparing for a walk down the aisle, it is truly a magical time!
Even though couples may share wedding vows year-round, June is still the most popular month to marry, followed by August, July, May, and September. There are many thoughts as to how the calendar might be tilted more towards this month for tying the knot. In mythology, the goddess, Juno (the namesake for “June”), was the protector of women in all aspects of life, but especially in marriage and love. In past farming societies, it was thought planning for the arrival of a child could be worked around the harvest season by marrying in June. (They needed all capable hands available for help.) Of course, with increased interest in outdoor weddings, it’s a beautiful month for many location weddings. Just tune into any wedding photographer’s site to see scenes like the one below from a Florence, Italy outdoor wedding, and be prepared to swoon!
Aside from the wedding party’s attire, the setting most certainly sets the mood for the auspicious occasion. Much like designing for an interior, the wedding or event planner has been charged with cataloging preferences, and also they must calculate how to best accommodate the guests. Many couples want their weddings to convey a personal sense of style, from their ceremony to the reception, and even to the departure. No matter the direction of the design, it’s always about sharing in the couple’s joyful experience!
Recently, Hooker Furniture Corporation celebrated a lovely marriage of shapes and textures in their new collection, Solana. Much like the trends in today’s weddings, it reflects a combination of rustic and refined. It’s a bit opulent and yet it’s also comfortable and relaxed. As shared on Hooker Furniture’s Solana Product News Page, “While Solana takes traditions to heart, the overall feel is an unpretentious casual elegance, with a light and airy touch. The soft, dry wire-brushed finish is a light caramel latte color with subtle lacy white hang up and a gray undertone. Selected furniture pieces have a shimmery metallic accent finish in a lovely champagne color.” The description alone would indicate these pieces would make for the perfect trousseau, or as accents for a wedding venue. Just wait until you see them!
The gorgeous, scrolled base, on the Solana Console Table is absolutely captivating. The soft, metallic finish makes it even more memorable, much like the stunning bridal gown and the wedding rings, shown above.
The concept of a woodland wedding and reception would be a lovely pairing for Solana. The backdrop of the foiliage makes every color scheme possible, as Mother Nature never seems to clash. The chairs are draped in a splendid arrangement and signal to the attendees where the honored couple will be seated.
The concept of a couple’s table, placed in the center of the room, is another way to put the newlyweds in the spotlight. I can imagine a luxurious chandelier, sparkling over the Solana Round Pedestal Table, as they receive toasts from family and friends. Of course, nothing would match the warm glow from their smitten eyes!
As the couple bid farewell, their chariot whisks them away to embark on a journey for the rest of their lives. I’m enchanted by this vintage car, graced with a floral garland. Enchanting is what all weddings should be, don’t you think?
For some couples, the honeymoon simply means enjoying the destination of their wedding, as both events may be wrapped into one trip as they share their “I-do’s” at fairytale resorts. I think that’s another reason June is the perfect month because the weather tends to be more predictable. Couples may also decide to bring the destination experience into their homes by designing the master bedroom to be fit for a lifelong, romantic escape. The Solana Mirrored Panel Bed is like a beautifully tiered wedding cake . . . embellished and tasteful, all at once.
To all of the couples, we wish for much love and for the best of things to come!
