Personalize Your Entertainment Center Room

Create a Parent Cave!

As families mature, parents and teenagers often go their separate ways when it comes to watching TV, movies and playing video games. That’s the case with Vivian Donn of San Jose, California. She and her husband, who have a 14-year-old son and an 18 year-old daughter attending UCLA, have found that “our son and his friends are taking over the TV and entertainment center in the family room with all their video game matches.”

What to do? Vivian is glad her son and his friends like to hang out at their home, but she and her husband need a place to crash and relax too. Their solution is to create their own personal entertainment center room. You’ve heard of a Man Cave? You might call this the Parent Cave! They are setting up a spare bedroom with a couple of recliners, a TV and entertainment center furniture, along with a home office computer desk. Her husband also uses the room to work at home and can take breaks between work to power nap in the recliner or watch TV.

Incidentally, the only thing missing from the Donn’s Parent Cave was the TV. But that was before they entered the recent Hooker Furniture Home Entertainment Furniture contest and won a new 42-inch TV. You can guess where the new TV is as we speak. Yep, it’s in the Parent Cave!
