Creating a fresh living space takes creativity, knowledge of one’s personal taste and style, and a few gorgeous pieces to complement both style and function. When one family wanted a full redesign of a sitting room that captured an “English country feel,” Creative Interiors and Design of Vancouver, Washington rolled up their sleeves and drew from the Sanctuary Collection by Hooker Furniture.
The results? Amazing!
Heidi, co-owner of Creative Interiors and Design, and her design team personalized details such as custom fabric for the Sam Moore host chairs and hand chosen rods and rings for the window treatments. In keeping with the Creative Interiors philosophy, nearly every piece used is built to order and exhaustively customized, from the wood finish on the chairs to the fabric and cording on the curtains.
Key challenges for this redesign included brightening an otherwise dark space and creating room-to-room continuity with signature touches requested by the client. Birds and butterflies forge a fresh look in the sitting room that transitions through contrast neutrals to the dining room.
Customized details like these provide a feminine take on the overall rustic style of the client’s home and allow for flow from the dining room to the sitting room while maintaining the function-specific character of individual space.
The dining room that the client started with, much like the sitting room, had dark, formal furniture and a somewhat sterile and outdated appearance.
To put together the client’s ideal dining room, the design team pulled essential pieces from both Hooker’s Sanctuary collection and Sam Moore, including the Sanctuary Refectory Dining Table and striking side chairs. Working with the preexisting, built-in hutch in the dining room, Heidi and her team harmonized the space by adding Hooker Furniture’s Wakefield buffet in taupe paint finish with a metal baker’s rack hutch.
Here’s the warm and wonderful results:
For the sitting room, team members selected Hooker Furniture’s three drawer antique mirror chest, whose subtle mirror effect adds shimmer and reflects back the warm hues used in the room.
Area rugs from Feizy Rugs and upholstery from Highland House Furniture also add warmth and complement the re-design’s texture and color scheme.
Heidi describes redesign projects like this one as “a true collaboration between companies like Hooker Furniture and our designers.”
