Welcome to Workwell, a new idea for working at home.
With the rise of mobile technology, tablet computers and the multi-tasking lifestyles of today, we felt it was time for a new idea in home office furniture.
As we carefully observe the way people are working from home all around the country, we’ve noticed that when you bring your work home from the office or need to check email or pay bills online, you want to stay connected to the people and activities around you. You’re looking for an unconventional office, one without walls, one that helps you seamlessly blend family life, down time and work at home.
Through research online with sites like Houzz, Pinterest and design blogs, we’ve seen that you’re finding creative ways to carve out work space in places like the kitchen, family room, dining room or even closets (sans doors).
For example, check out this creative “Cloffice” that design blogger Christina Katos created for her daughter in the closet in her room:
Christina walks us through the entire process of creating the Cloffice from start to finish in her latest entry of her Design 29 blog here.
Seeing how creative you are about working at home, we were determined to design home office furnishings that stylishly adapt to today’s changing workstyles and workspaces.
The result is a new line of home office furnishings called Workwell —home office styles for the way you live. The line emphasizes space-efficient writing desks ranging from 42-inches wide to 64 inches.
A 42-inch desk is so compact that it could easily fit in many closets, under a stair well or in other creative spaces you might carve out. Also, it could fit on a four-foot wall—which is usually available even in most small apartments.
Careful attention is also given that the desks feature beautiful finishes, colors and design elements.
For instance, this new Workwell mirrored writing desk is an unexpected burst of fashion for an office desk for home:
And this sophisticated Workwell writing desk with lovely Hickory veneers offers a soft, light finish, dentil molding trim across the edge and beautifully shaped legs:
Workwell also offers many compact and multi-purpose cabinets like this Kinsey utility cabinet that can serve not only as a solution for printer and files and other home office storage, but even as a TV solution.
A piece with this size and look can go virtually anywhere in the house, from the family room to the kitchen.
For the High Point Furniture Market that opens October 19, we’re taking the fashion of Workwell up a notch. Writing desks, lateral files, bookcases and elegant desk chairs will be offered with such high-style approaches as mirrored pieces, fretwork detail, custom hardware, wallpaper backs and lining and an “egliomise” foiled mirror surface on several pieces, along with other fashion-forward finishes. Here’s a new writing desk with cool foiled wallpaper lining in the drawers and the back panels of the bookcases:
The other focus of October’s introduction is taking stylish organization to the next level. We’ve invented two new formats, the E-Charge Center and The Works, that offer compact storage and charging for multiple portable electronics like phones and tablet computers and laptops.
Said Cindy Hall, director of merchandising, “We’re taking Workwell to a whole new level of problem-solving, de-cluttering and de-stressing furniture. All households struggle with how to charge and organize multiple electronics and ‘grab them and go’ when you’re ready to leave for work or an appointment. We hope these pieces help solve that dilemma.”
What do you think of our new E-Charge Center that can charge and store up to 5 electronics, along with wire management?
The shallow, felt-lined drawers are a nice touch for storing tablets and laptops so they won’t be scratched. The E-Charge Center will initially be available in four finishes.
And this new “The Works” format, which is perfect for holding office supplies and includes a file drawer, two-plug USB charger and a printer stand, is also ideal for use as a crafting table and crafts supplies storage piece:
So, what do you think of our new Workwell line? We hope that it helps address the new ways you’re working at home. We’d love to hear your stories of how you work at home and your ideas too!

Wonderful way to work at home–making it more home than office.
When I left a “real” office, I made my mind that my work environment would be just what Workwell is doing. These inviting desks make me want to
put up a lovely little lunch and take my work break right at my desk.
There is a delicious privacy about this concept–far away from the office work spaces of today. An antique mirrored desk! Wow!
Nancy, so glad you appreciate the Workwell concept. And we love your idea of having a nice lunch & tea at your desk!
