A lot of excitement builds at this time every year during the football play-offs on the road to the Super Bowl, set for this Sunday night. On recent news feeds, you could see the mass celebrations taking place in Seattle and Denver. The Seahawks and the Broncos fans have to be gearing up for a spirited game at MetLife Stadium. Congratulations are in order for these hard-playing teams!
Sadly, this Carolina Panthers fan didn’t get to see her team make it to the Big Game, but I think they surprised a lot of people as they went a good distance to win the NFC South Championship. (I know – a shameless team plug.)
Whatever your team colors might be, the Super Bowl is always a great time for a fun gathering.
While we’ll certainly be watching the action of the super team members, there are a few other important “stars” that will be drawing our attention.
Where there is a gathering, there is always the food! I popped by Pinterest for a few recipes, and never in my wildest dreams did I think there would be so many!
Being from North Carolina, anything that has to do with barbeque definitely captures my attention. This spicy, pulled pork recipe from The Pioneer Woman, which includes Dr. Pepper and some chipotle peppers, takes on a whole different twist when served in warm, flour tortillas. What a hearty fair for sustaining the cheerleaders and couch coaches during the game.
I’m sure there is nothing like sitting in the stadium, right in the thick of the kick-off . . . the roar of the crowd and the thrill of fan camaraderie. I don’t know about you, but unless there is the luxury of being in the club level, I sure prefer my own creature comforts to some cold, stadium seats. (I’m betting there won’t be a heat wave hitting on February 2nd at MetLife Stadium.)
For some of my clients’ TV viewing areas, we make sure to have lots of cushy seating and the ability to prop up some feet during the half-time shows. (Bruno Mars should have the crowd captivated, as well as the always entertaining commercials.) Either a well-placed ottoman or motion-style seating get a big thumb’s-up from the team captain. To allow for more flexibility in the room arrangement, I look for recliners with flat sides so they can be placed together like theater seating or can be pulled apart for creating a conversation space.
There are lots of unique and functional accent furniture pieces in the Hooker Furniture line, not only for designing around the big game days, but for your future entertainment centers furniture needs. I love it when function melds in to a fabulous form!
Of course, there wouldn’t be Super Bowl Super Stars without the players, coaches, and the fans. Wherever you gather, have a fantastic time and stay safe on your journey. There will be great stories to share and then we’ll be looking forward to the next football season!
