Blue Sky Style

Clearly, Spring is nearly here (two days & counting!).  Trees are budding, grass is greening and the sky has gone from dreary gray to oh-so beautiful blue. No matter how you spin the color wheel, it’s hard to beat blue.   The favorite hue of 42% of Americans (me, too!), blue is the chameleon of the color box with the power to change how we feel in the blink of an eye. Blue can evoke the restful feel of the sky, punch things up or go dramatically dark. That’s why moody blues are turning heads everywhere this Spring.

Varying shades of blue really stand out against the crisp white backdrop of this seaside space.

In the hands of Jamie Drake, blue is a real team player and looks marvelously modern when paired with popsickle brights.

Nate Berkus uses varying shades of blue to wrap this Milan bath in spa-like serenity. A blue hydrangea adds an element of fresh chic.

Blue’s one of the easiest colors to pattern mix with as you can see in this pretty bedroom filled with stripes, checks and large-format florals.

A modernist take on a classic, the Cosette chaise from Sam Moore Furniture has lovely clean lines accentuated by nailhead trim.

To blues-up a small space like a foyer or a reading nook, try the Melange Regatta chest. It’s also sized right to double as a bedside table.

No swivel tub chair has ever turned my head. Then I saw Liam with its clean, contemporary lines, nailhead trim and rich blue leather.  Gorgeous!

What’s ahead for blue?  More stylish spins than you can shake a stick at.  Here’s a sneak peak at a few Hooker Furniture designs that will debut at this April’s High Point Furniture market, then arrive in stores this Fall…

Pale blue wraps Sam Moore’s new cabana stripe chair and Hooker Furniture’s Sunset Point table in a soothing, calm look that reminds me of how I feel after a day at the beach taking in the blue sea and sky.  Yes, this is why I love blue.
