Easter is a time to celebrate. Whether you’re hosting brunch, lunch or dinner, how you set the table matters because it sets the tone for your gathering. And in my case, a great looking table also helps deflect from unfortunate cooking mishaps (like the sinking meringue pie of 2007). But I digress. To set your prettiest Easter table ever, start by picking a palette that’s Springtime right, then look for ways to make your table special and uniquely yours. For example, nature lovers will race to the table above, with its earth-inspired palette moss, brown and cream; a hint of texture, a sculptural living topiary and a Country French toile tablecloth.
One of my favorite Easters was spent at Kew Gardens near London. There’s just something special about dining with a view of colorful flowers as far as the eye can see. I snapped a photo, shown above, of my view to preserve the beauty in my memory.
So if you’re lucky enough to have a garden (or patio) in bloom, pick lots of flowers for your centerpiece, then arrange the table so guests can take in the view.
Better yet–if the weather’s nice, move the celebration outside. Set a casual table with vintage linens and a centerpiece made of field flowers in tin can vases (that the kids can paint). This is also a wonderful way to kick off an afternoon of egg hunts, games and naps beneath the shade tree.
For a more formal look with lots of wow, tablescape around Rosenthal Meets Versace’s “Le Grand Divertissement.” Inspired by the opulent parties of Louis XIV’s Royal Court, this ornate porcelain dinnerware is rimmed with an iconic Arabesque leaf design in lavender and gold. Wow, indeed!
To add some Springtime color to the table, pair white or neutral dinnerware with Classique stemware that comes in pink, purple and green (as well as clear).
A refined rustic that delivers the look of sunshine-kissed natural wood, the Solana dining group works well with both formal and casual table settings. That makes it a perfect pick for any Easter gathering.
The sculpted Solana dining table base , when paired with a glass top, offers even more of a light and airy, springtime and romantic feeling.
A leisurely afternoon of tea and sweets is always a treat. Kate Spade New York’s Greenwich Grove tea set is Easter egg bright and is delicately finished with hand-applied gold accents.
Why serve grocery-store bunny cookies when one of the finest sweets ever created in Paris is now also available here in America? If you’ve never tried a Laduree macaron, get ready to swoon. I’m partial to the Champs-Elysee gift box that’s filled with 24 confection perfections, all in pretty pastel hues. Festively French, these chic treats are something your guests will long remember.
With two 12-inch leaves, the Wakefield drop leaf table is sized right for afternoon teas, large or small, or to double as a meal-time buffet server.
