Just recently, I began a project with clients who are scaling back on some of the tasks which accompany a larger home and yard. Their goals were to create a more carefree lifestyle, travel to beautiful destinations, while still enjoying a home well-appointed with furniture. As they shared with me, they imagined experiencing a “wow” factor upon entering their new retirement dwelling.
As I began looking at my clients’ proposed floor plan, I realized their dining room, while seemingly generous, could only accommodate their table and chairs. (Design Tip: Model homes will be staged in a way to make the room feel as large as possible. Always get the furniture footprint completed to scale to anticipate what will fit in a space.)
My clients required a storage space for place settings and serveware, and the only option for positioning a larger furniture piece was to the right of the fireplace – also facing the great room. Additionally, we wanted to include a piece for showcasing accessories and books. Ultimately this would need to be a cabinet with hidden storage below, a showcase at the top, and in a design which could connect both the living and dining room.
Hooker’s Moccato Collection came to the rescue with a great option for me to present to them! The lines of Hooker’s latest collection are classic, clean, and dotted with flare. The buffet, topped with a hutch, would fit in beautifully and could be lovingly layered with special pieces from my client’s future travels. Whether I’m designing a room for children or for the more mature set, I’m always considering furniture which meets the scale of today’s transitional living. It just makes good sense!
If you would like to add a little “wow” to your home, be sure to take a look at the Moccato pieces. While you’re checking out the collection, register to win a fantastic, multi-functional cocktail table. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!
