Your in-laws are on their way. The turkey you put in the oven hours ago is still raw. Your outfit is splattered with food. Your home is barren and bleak and no decorations are to be found. Not to fret-well, on the last part at least. Quick, inexpensive Christmas decorations are often at your fingertips! Simply look in your cupboard or backyard for some inspiration!
I personally love “do-it-yourself” art projects. There is something so special about decorations that are personally made. The time and creativity that goes into these projects not only warm your home with personality, but are quick and inexpensive to make!
To instantly dress up an exposed banister, try wrapping pine and holly berry boughs with some leftover wrapping ribbon from last year’s gifts. To add some rustic definition, wrap in a few twigs. Do you have small ball ornaments lying around? Loop some twine or string through the hole in the top and arrange in the center of the pine boughs for an instant sparkle.
In need of a little festive color on your table top? Simply fill a few glass hurricane jars with “snow” filler (found at your local craft store) and white votive candles. Wrap some pine and berry boughs around the base and you have an ambient dinnertime light.
In a pinch for time? Place existing white votive candles on small dessert plates. Gather up all your old candy canes that no one ate last year and attach them, upside-down, to the candles with a wide ribbon.
The holidays can certainly be a hectic time of year! With time and money constraints, holiday decorating can often fall to the bottom of the priority list. Quick, inexpensive holiday decorations are fun and easy to make and fill your home with a warm, homemade touch! Share with us how you like to decorate for the holidays!

We decided to put up a second Christmas tree in the den. We didn’t really have any decorations for it so thats when it was time to get creative. With money tight after purchasing gifts for the family We decided to see what we could do without too much cost. We went outside and gathered up pinecones from the woods by the house and brought them in and put hooks in them. We then placed them on the tree and I bought some red bows and candy canes and WOW at just how beautiful it turned out with almost no money spent at all.
